Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare of the digital mammographic images made by domestic (A) and foreign (B) manufacturers using the standard criteria for clinical image evaluation.

Materials and Methods: A total of 68 patients with 136 mammograms; one past exam by B digital mammography unit and one present exam by A digital mammography unit, were examined randomly by 3 breast radiologists in consensus following the standard criteria for clinical image evaluation. Position, compression, contrast and exposure, and artifacts in each mammogram were evaluated. Mean values in the scales in each category and total points were compared using paired t-test.

Results: The mean total scores of image evaluation in A digital mammography unit was 96.5, and that of B digital mammography unit used was 96.4, and no significant statistical differences were noted for mean scores (p=0.974). As for positioning, the mean scores using A mammography unit was higher than that of B mammography unit (mediolateral oblique view p=0.557, craniocaudal view p=0.311). However, as for contrast and exposure, higher mean score value was noted with the use of B mammography unit than A mammography unit, even though, there were no significant statistical differences (p=0.055).

Conclusion: As for image evaluation using standard criteria of clinical image evaluation, mammograms achieved by A mammography unit were comparable to those achieved by B mammography.
